M Özlem Kaldi

Integrative psychotherapist (MBACP) (BSc) Dip. Clinical Supervisor

Having two Autistic brothers led me to study and have a degree in BSc Psychology to  help understand how individuals think and behave, especially individuals who are neurodivergent. After my degree, I worked with individuals with special educational needs (SEN) and children with cerebral palsy (PMLD) for 4 years. I used non–verbal cues and sensory objects to understand their feelings and what was challenging them.

This has inspired me to do my MA in Psychotherapy and Counselling. As a therapist, I work with clients using different approaches,e.g. existential, humanistic and psychodynamic and also work creatively with clients who find it hard to describe their feelings using words.

I have more than 5 years of experience working with clients who are experiencing depression and anxiety, trauma, relationship issues (co-dependency, marriage issues, separation, divorce, anxiously attached or avoidantly attached and looking into relationship patterns), eating disorders (comfort eating, anorexia, bulimia) OCD (intrusive thoughts, cleaning, repetitive patterns), grief and bereavement. While working in the NHS, I gained a lot of experience working with high-risk clients as well as self-harm as well as those who are challenged by schizophrenia, bipolar, personality disorders, and psychosis.

Alongside working in the NHS, I have experience working in schools, GP surgeries, a low–cost service, in EAP services as a weight management therapist and with eating disorders. I also have a private practice, where Ii offer short-term and open-ended therapy.

I will provide a safe space for my clients to open up about their feelings and emotions and the challenges they are experiencing. The most important thing I aim to achieve is to provide my clients with a space where they are heard where they can work towards what they hope for in the therapeutic space. I will walk with them alongside them in this therapeutic journey, supporting them with the tools they may need and helping them find the answers they are looking for.

I am also a qualified Clinical Supervisor and am able to provide individual or group supervision sessions to either trainee or qualified therapists.

I am aregistered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and will adhere to their ethical practice and to their guidelines.
